More people are depending on food banks than ever before. In 2022/23 approximately 3 million people used a foodbank in the United Kingdom, as “ever-increasing” numbers of households – including pensioners, NHS staff and teachers – seek help amid the cost of living crisis.

More than ever, donations are needed to help.

Between April 2022 and March 2023, food banks in the Trussell Trust’s UK wide network distributed close to 3 million emergency food parcels to people facing hardship – this is an increase of 37% from the same period last year. More than one million of these parcels were distributed for children.

The Trussell Trust support a nationwide network of food banks providing emergency food and support to people locked in poverty with a long-term goal to remove the need for food banks in the UK.
